Aromatherapy
The use of Essential Oils dates back to at least 2,000 years BC, there are written records in the Bible of references to people using the power of plants to help heal themselves, the treatment of illnesses and for religious purposes. Aromatherapy is an "Holistic Therapy" which means the mind, the body and the spirit are all taken into account to improve the health of the individual being treated. The word "Aromatherapy" literally means "Pleasant Scent Therapy"
Essential Oils can be extracted from plants and flowers, petals, twigs, bark, roots and seeds and they are mostly liquid in there form - but essential oils can also be found in resin form, for example: Frankincense or Benzoin.

The Consultation
During your first visit, you should allow an extra 10-15 minutes for the consultation. The consultation session is a vital part of the process, it helps to ensure that you receive the best possible treatment.
The therapist will ask some questions about your health, lifestyle, any illnesses, areas of pain, medication being taken family histories they should be aware of before commencing treatment. Any information gathered is always treated confidentially.
The therapist will also ask you what you are hoping to achieve from your treatment, i.e: relaxation, improve skin condition, reduce aches and pains and so on.
How long does the treatment take?
An Aromatherapy massage is 90 minutes in duration, plus the 15 minute consultation as mentioned above, so the first treatment will last around 105 minutes. The next treatment will include a consultation session but will only last around 5 minutes to check and record any new medications, bruises, vaccinations etc and how you found your last aromatherapy massage.
I do not use pre-blended oils for this massage and I am qualified to mix your own personal blend. Factors also considered are personal preferences, do you like floral aromas /earthy aromas / citrus aromas, there's nothing worse than having a massage with an oil you do not like.
