Geranium:
The Geranium plant is a perennial shrub which usually grows to 1 metre, the whole plant is aromatic. It grows in Russia, Egypt, Japan, Spain, Italy and France. The essential oil is extracted using steam distallation methods.
As an essential oil it is classed as an; antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, astringent (works like a toner on the skin, as it closes pores of the skin) it has deoderant qualities and is a diuretic
Skin care: acne bruises burns (mild) eczema lice mature skin it works well as an insect repellant too promotes healing stimulates the lymphatic system
Blends well with: Lavender, patchouli, clove, rose, sandalwood, jasmine, juniperberry, neroli and bergamot.
Ginger

An erect perennial plant, the plant has spear shaped leaves and sometimes has white or yellow flowers.Ginger itself comes from the tuberous root pictured above. The root itself can smell pungent.
Ginger essential oil and its uses: Muscular aches and pains poor circulation as it is warming fatigue rheumatism sore throat Indigestion it can help stimulate a flagging appetite nausea travel sickness morning sickness chills symptoms of a cold.
It is also considered to be: Analgesic (helps reduce mild pain) antiseptic, antispasmodic ( can help reduce stomach cramps) laxative effects, and a stimulant.
It is a native plant of Southern Asia, West Indies, India and China
Blends well with: Sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, frankincense, rosewood, rose, lime and other citrus oils.

Grapefruit
The Grapefruit tree grows to approximately 10 metres in height. The tree itself has large glossy foliage, and it bears the large yellow succulant fruits pictured above.
It grows in the West Indies, Florida, Brazil, but the Grapefruit essential oil is usually produced in California U.S.A
It is particularly useful for treating oily skin types as it works as an astringent, it can help stimulate hair growth. Also used as an antidepressant as are many Citrus essential oils.
Grapefruit essential oil is considered as an Antiseptic antitoxic an astringent and a stimulant and is quite an energising aroma.
Blends well with: Lemon, bergamot, neroli, rosemary, lavender, geranium oils.
Jasmine
The Jasmine plant is an evergreen shrub. It can grow up to 8-10 metres high, it has green small delicate leaves and hundreds of small delicate white flowers - usually star shaped.
Jasmine and its uses: Dry and mature skin it is a mild analgesic antidepressant anti-inflammatory Antiseptic also considered to be an aphrodisiac. It has a rich, warm heady aroma.
Blends well with: Rose, sandalwood, clary sage, and all other citrus oils

Juniperberry
Also an evergreen shrub which can grow up to 6 metres high. Its leaves have a bluish tinge and bears little round Juniperberries and it is found in Scandinavia, Siberia, and Canada even into Northern Europe and Asia.
It is an antiseptic antispasmodic astringent aphrodisiac sedative tonic
Blends well with: Sandalwood, cedarwood, elemi, clary sage, lavender, rosemary, benzoin, geranium and citrus oils
